Pastor James J. Smith

Our PASTOR JAMES J. SMITH, is a man Devoted and Called to ministry by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His Philosophy is taken from the scripture: Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

His ministry began at the age of 10. He was traveling throughout Shreveport and the vicinity, driven by his devoted mother, Sis. Margie Walker. She was his best supporter, mother and his own personal guidance counselor.

Pastor Smith attended the public schools of Caddo Parish, attending and graduating from Booker T. Washington High School during the years of 1989-1993.

He attended Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA, from 1993-1995 and earned the Bachelor of Theology and Masters of Theology degree in 1993 from the United Theology Seminary. Progressing own in 1999 he received the Doctorate of Divinity degree from the Inter-Baptist Theological Seminary.

During the years 2006-2015, Pastor Smith was employed with the Direct Care Staff at Rutherford House in Shreveport, LA, working with the boys group home where he was able to not only encourage them physically but spiritually as well.

At Present, Pastor Smith is employed with Bio Tech, Stericycle in Shreveport, but his most rewarding employment comes from being Pastor and Spiritual Leader at Midway Baptist Church No. 2. His tenure at Midway began in 1999 and continues until this very date. His teaching and leadership training, time management, counseling experience, organizational skills (along with many others) and all God given talents has made Midway No. 2 a family with strong family and spiritual values.

He is married to our lovely First Lady, Sis. Tammy Smith and father to Ashley, Amy, Amber, Alex and Adam.

His activities include spending time with family, attending conferences, attending sporting events and traveling.

Family is very, very important to Pastor Smith and he shows it throughout the Midway No. 2 family also always taking time for the elders, youth and young adults.
